Murray's David Archuleta has beaten out thousands to make the top three on "American Idol." But in Utah, he's beaten the competition in other contests.
For example: Mandy Neff still dreams of auditioning for the show that has now made Archuleta famous. A few years ago, she says he beat her out in a local "Star Search" competition.
She knew she was in trouble when she first heard his voice.
"I got chills. I was like, ‘OK let's go home now.' He's a sweet kid," she said.
Now she admits she's happily telling her friends Archuleta beat her. She's hoping the young star wins the whole thing.
