SALT LAKE CITY — A convicted felon who had 23 guns in his Duchesne County home when it was raided by federal agents last year has been sentenced to prison.

Ferron Wyasket, 57, was sentenced Wednesday to serve 37 months in federal prison for his guilty plea to one count of possession of a firearm by a restricted person. He must also complete 36 months of supervised release once his prison term is over.

Wyasket admitted in court records that he had 12 rifles, nine handguns and two shotguns in his house when FBI agents, Bureau of Indian Affairs police officers and members of the Uintah Basin Narcotics Strike Force raided it in October 2013.

The raid came after a monthslong investigation of suspected methamphetamine trafficking at the house, which sits on Ute tribal land. No meth was found at the house or on the surrounding property, but authorities said they did find the guns, a small amount of marijuana and some drug paraphernalia.

State court records show Wyasket pleaded guilty to attempted arson, a third-degree felony, in September 1993. The 21-year-old felony conviction makes it a crime under state and federal law for Wyasket to possess a firearm.
