WASHINGTON, Washington County — A Washington City police car stopped to investigate a crash on I-15 was hit shortly before 5 p.m. Saturday by a pickup but the officer had just gotten out of the vehicle and was not injured.
Both the driver of the truck and the driver of the SUV involved in the initial crash were hurt, according to information provided by the Utah Highway Patrol, and the truck and police car sustained significant damage.
The officer was stopped on northbound I-15 with emergency lights activated and positioned to protect the SUV, which was partially blocking the right lane of traffic after being involved in a crash, the UHP said.
Both crashes are being investigated by the UHP.
