WEST VALLEY CITY — West Valley City police saw some irony after a man riding a bicycle crashed while fleeing an officer.
Police said the officer tried to pull over the man on a bicycle around 10:30 p.m. because he was riding at night with no lights. Instead of stopping, the man tried to pedal away from the officer, police said.
The chase ended at about 1300 West and 2320 South when the man didn't see a ditch, crashed his bike and fell into the ditch.
“I guess if he had a light on, he would’ve seen the ditch, but he didn’t,” police said.
The man didn't have any outstanding warrants, but officers took him into custody after they said they found drug paraphernalia in his backpack.
