(KSL News) Firefighters in Weber County say they never dreamed they'd be called to a fire at their own station near 3500 West and 2550 South, but this afternoon, Mike Campbell, who lives near the Weber Fire District station, looked outside and saw the building's roof smoking.
He ran over to alert crews, but no one was there. So Campbell entered through an open door and drove two big fire trucks across the street to safety.
Soon the fire crew returned to their station and quickly put out the flames.
Firefighters say they believe the fire started by heat tape installed on the roof to melt snow and ice.
