BLOOMING GROVE, Pa. (AP) — It's still uncertain what led to a deadly shooting at a Pennsylvania State Police barracks in the northeastern part of the state. State police say the late night shooting killed a trooper and left another wounded. The search for a suspect continues with help from helicopters and other agencies.
MINNEAPOLIS (AP) — There's trouble for another National Football league star. Authorities in Texas have issued an arrest warrant after indicting star Minnesota Vikings running back Adrian Peterson on a charge of child abuse. He allegedly used a branch to spank his son. His lawyer says there's no timetable yet for his surrender. Peterson won't play in Sunday's game.
PHOENIX (AP) — In a ruling that calls into question Arizona's gay marriage ban, a judge handed a victory Friday to A gay man in Arizona who lost his spouse to cancer last month will be allowed to be listed on the spouse's death certificate. The ruling from a federal judge also hints that Arizona's same-sex marriage ban could be in trouble generally. U.S. District Judge John Sedwick wrote that it's "probable" that Arizona will be required to permit same-sex marriages" when he hears that challenge.
HONOLULU (AP) — Lava from one of the world's most active volcanos soon could reach three vacant lots in a rural subdivision on Hawaii's Big Island, but officials are hopeful homes will be spared. Hawaii County spokesman Kevin Dayton says a slight veer to the north is a hopeful sign. Based on the lava's movement of about 200 to 300 yards a day, the flow from Kilauea is expected to reach the lots in coming days.
KIEV, Ukraine (AP) — Ukraine is talking tough even as a cease-fire with pro-Russia rebels continues to hold in the east. The Ukrainian prime minister says in a speech that Kiev is "still in a state of war" with neighboring Russia. He says Russian president Vladimir Putin wants all of Ukraine. Kiev is mostly silent though about a second Russian truck convoy entering Ukraine today.
