(KSL News) -- The National Guard's 116th Construction Equipment Company came home today after completing their mission on the Mexico border.

55 guard members spent the past two weeks in Arizona. They're glad to be out of the 100 degree heat, and their families are glad they're home safe.

Shane Szarek/Utah National Guard Member: "It's twenty cooler, so it's really nice and it's good to see the kids and the wife."

Amy Szarek/Wife: "It was a lot better to know that he's not that far away and it's safer, but we still miss him."

The troops helped fortify the border by building a road, putting up a fence and installing lights.

Utah's National Guard was the first to assist the U-S border patrol since President Bush proposed sending troops four Southern Border States.
