PHILADELPHIA (AP) — Acclaimed filmmaker David Lynch has visited Philadelphia for a preview of a museum exhibit featuring his paintings.

Lynch was in the city on Wednesday for a walkthrough of the exhibit. Lynch is best known for making movies, but he's also an artist.

The exhibition is presented by the Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts, which he attended.

The academy says the exhibit will feature more than 80 of Lynch's paintings and drawings. The display features work that spans his career from his years as a student in the 1960s to now.

The exhibit is called "David Lynch: The Unified Field." Visitors can see it between Sept. 13 and Jan. 11, 2015.
