OGDEN — The Weber County Attorney's Office continued Wednesday to investigate a fatal officer-involved shooting of a man wanted for questioning in connection with a shooting the week before.
Christopher James Roskelley, 38, was shot and killed by police in the front yard of his house at 147 N. Harrison Blvd. about 5 p.m. Tuesday. Ogden Police Lt. Danielle Croyle said "multiple officers" were on standard paid administrative leave pending an investigation. She would only confirm the number of officers is more than one but less than five.
Investigators were looking for Roskelley Tuesday to find out what he knew about a shooting on Friday near 851 24th St. In that incident, a 35-year-old man was shot multiple times by another man who drove off in a white sedan after the incident, according to police. Croyle said the victim from that shooting was recently upgraded from critical to serious condition, but she did not have information Wednesday whether he had been released from the hospital. A motive for that shooting has not been revealed.
Details of what happened at the house on Harrison Boulevard Tuesday have not been released. Croyle said when Roskelley arrived at the residence, there was a confrontation with the officers waiting for him. She said Roskelley was armed and multiple shots were fired. It was unknown Wednesday whether Roskelley exchanged gunfire with the officers.
Neighbors reported hearing as many as seven gunshots and believed officers had been watching Roskelley's home for several days.
The district attorney investigation into what happened is expected to take several weeks. Police are also simultaneously investigating Roskelley's possible connection to Friday's shooting as they look into the officer-involved shooting.
