Police beat.

In the newsroom we are constantly sifting through information looking for content to put on the air. And sometimes you come across a police report that just makes you go hmmm.

For instance there was a guy wearing a cloak at BYU singing. And it really turned interesting when police went and checked the guy out. People were mad that the police would harrass the singing guy. But on the other hand in this day and age if there was a strange guy in a cloak singing near your son or daughters school, wouldn't you want police to make sure there isn't something wrong going on there?

Here's another interesting police beat that came out today from the Orem police department. And I would like to send a “thanks” to the Orem police department, not for this particular police report, but for their day to day openness in relaying information about what is happening in their community.

Here you go…

DRUG ARREST - 26-year-old Sarah Sheehan, of Orem, was stopped by Officer Scott Rich just after Midnight on Wednesday morning because she was driving a car on Main Street without working head or tail lights.

Sheehan had a suspended drivers license and was wanted on a warrant for domestic assault. She was arrested and taken to the Utah County Jail.

When enroute to the jail, Sheehan began to exibit symptoms characteristic of methamphetamine use. She became excited and wouldn't stop talking and couldn't sit still at the jail. She confided in Officer Rich that she had just used meth before the traffic stop was made and that she really needed to quit using drugs. Officer Rich agreed that would be an excellent idea.

Sheehan then told Officer Rich that she had something for him. She ceremoniously stood up and pulled a plastic bag of from her bra and threw it at the officer. No sooner did Officer Rich have a chance to identify the contents of the bag as methamphetamine, than Sarah Sheehan demanded the baggie back and commenced trying to wrest it from him. She was unsuccessful.

Now that's got to be pretty good evidence of ownership and possession when not only do you pull contraband from your underwear and give it to the police, but then immediately use force to try and get it back from them.....

Sarah Sheehan was booked into the Utah County jail, her 19th such appearance there in the past seven years.
