(KSL News) The Consumer Federation of America said today since 2002, the price increase for gasoline is greater than before or after the Iranian oil embargo during the 1970s.
"Make no mistake about it, we are now in the midst of the greatest gasoline price run-up in the history of the nation," said Mark Cooper, director of the Consumer Federation of America.
AAA also reported today the new Utah average for a gallon of regular stands at $3.38 a gallon.
Tonight we addressed high gas prices in Talking Point and asked you to submit your questions through e-mail. Lee Peacock, president of the Utah Petroleum Association, answered those questions as a representative of oil refiners in the state.

The Consumer Federation says there are plenty of ways we can save with the vehicles we're driving now. It offers simple tips:
- Check your air filter. That can save 35 cents a gallon.
- Straighten out. Get your car aligned. That can save 35 cents more.
- Slow down. That saves an extra 25 cents a gallon.
- Get a tune up to save another 14 cents.
- Pump up your tires, and you can save about 10 cents a gallon.
