Randall Jeppesen reportingWhile the battle over the custody of FLDS children in Texas continues, so does the criticism that keeps getting poured onto Utah for not taking similar actions.
Inside the Utah Attorney General's Office, spokesman Paul Murphy says he's been getting critical calls and e-mails from all over the United States and from around the world. "One is: ‘Why don't you just arrest every polygamist?'" he said.
Some cable news talk shows have also been pointing a finger saying Utah hasn't prosecuted polygamy enough. Murphy says that's frustrating because he says his office does and is investigating polygamist groups for child abuse and other crimes when information becomes available.
But Murphy says there's a big difference between Warren Jeffs and other groups. "The lines of communication have opened up with the other polygamist groups," he said.
He says he listens to the criticism, but it often is ignorance.
