TAYLORSVILLE — Police arrested a man after he crashed his car into the front porch of a house in Taylorsville.

The man was driving at freeway speeds through a neighborhood near 4000 West and Misty Drive (about 6300 South) around 1:20 a.m., according to Unified Police Lt. Rosie Rivera. He missed the turn at a t- intersection and crashed into the residence.

The impact was strong enough that neighbors felt the ground shake, and 911 calls poured in to emergency dispatchers.

The impact at the porch kept the car from entering the house.

The driver was seriously injured but was expected to recover. A passenger and people in the house were not injured. The home was not seriously damaged.

Rivera said investigators believe alcohol may have been a factor.
