PROVO, Utah (AP) -- A newlywed couple are living apart because of an immigration problem they didn't see coming.
Leonard "Woody" Woodward, 96, is back in Provo and his wife, Doreen Buttery, is stuck in her native Canada. When they met at the Eldred Senior Center in Provo, Buttery, 73, was in the United States as a temporary visitor.
After falling in love and marrying this year, the couple returned to Alberta so Buttery could sell her house and move to Provo permanently. But she hadn't filled out the paperwork to immigrate and was stuck at the border as her husband took the bus back to Provo.
Woody and a neighbor who has a law degree are trying to put together the paperwork to bring Doreen back.
