SALT LAKE CITY — A 7-year-old is in serious condition after a near-drowning on Saturday.
The boy and his parents were playing at the Riverbend Apartments pool when the incident occurred, according to Lt. Justin Hoyal of the Unified Police Department.
"He was playing in the pool, trying to see how long he could hold his breath when someone realized he had been underwater too long," Hoyal said.
Several people helped the boy, Hoyal said. He had a pulse and was breathing when officers arrived.
The boy was transported to Primary Children’s Hospital in critical condition but has since been updated to serious condition.
