This is Chris Redgrave for Zions Bank Speaking on Business.

In meeting with Ken Gardner of Gardner Engineering Alternative Energy Sources, it was obvious right off the bat this is a curious man, and his curiosity has driven him through multiple levels of education, all the way to the company he's running now with a team of 10 employees, a company on the forefront of renewable energy for Utah.

To give you an idea of how curious he is, Ken has a background in civil, instructional and structural engineering, but he is also a land surveyor, master electrician and teacher extraordinaire. His company, Gardner Engineering Alternative Energy Sources, has successfully worked with commercial, industrial and residential companies, including big operators like Hill Air Force Base and the VA Hospital. They recently launched a brand new community solar program with the University of Utah to provide more affordable options for solar energy installation.

Ken and his team walk their talk by having their own renewable energy. Gardner Engineering Alternative Energy Sources designs and builds renewable energy systems including solar, wind and hydroelectric for commercial, institutional, industrial and residential customers across the Western United States. This is an important industry to be in. In fact, the energy industry in Utah has generated 31,000 plus direct jobs and $5.6 billion in economic value.

Installation of these systems can be done on new construction and existing homes. The systems are designed to maximize the effectiveness of solar energy and minimize the effect on a home's appearance. Gardner Engineering Alternative Energy Sources makes their recommendations to home owners based on what will work the best for them, so it becomes environmentally sound with a strong return on investment and is aesthetically appealing as well.

Ken also loves to teach and spends a couple weeks in Colorado every year teaching alternative energy classes. He recently taught a class at Weber State University.

With the right climate available to them, Ken knows Gardner Engineering Alternative Energy Sources' work is an unmatched opportunity to take renewable energy resources and make them work for more people than ever before.

For Zions Bank, I'm Chris Redgrave, speaking on business.
