SALT LAKE CITY (April 1, 2008) - The NBA announced today that Utah Jazz head coach Jerry Sloan has been named Western Conference Coach of the Month for games played in March.

Sloan led Utah to a 12-4 (.750) record in March. Six of Utah's 12 wins came against teams which currently would be in the playoffs, including wins at Boston (3/14) and at Phoenix (3/7). The Jazz, owners of the NBA's best home record (33-4), had their franchise-record-tying 19-game home winning streak snapped on March 20, but is still 23-1 at EnergySolutions Arena in 2008. Utah averaged 113.4 points on .527 shooting from the field in March.

This is the ninth Coach of the Month award for Sloan, who last won it for November 2006.

Other nominees for Western Conference Coach of the Month were Houston's Rick Adelman, New Orleans' Byron Scott, and San Antonio's Gregg Popovich. Boston's Doc Rivers was named the Eastern Conference winner for March.
