KIWI Magazine Announces The Winners Of Its National Take Your Parents
To Lunch Day Contest
NEW YORK, April 24, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- KIWI magazine is happy to
announce the winners of its National Take Your Parents to Lunch Day
2013 contest. In honor of National Take Your Parents to Lunch Day-an
annual event created by KIWI that highlights school lunch-KIWI
partnered with the Whole Kids Foundation to offer three $1,000 grants
for participating schools.
The winning schools are: The Museum School in Decatur, Georgia; Edison
Middle School in Wheaton, Illinois; and La Costa Heights Elementary
School in Carlsbad, California. Each school submitted an application
describing what they are doing to be green, including information on
their nutrition program, school gardens, and creative ways they are
being eco-friendly. They also were asked how they'd use the grant
money if they won.
"We had an enormous response to this year's contest with over 400
entries," says Judy Koutsky, KIWI's Editorial Director. "We are happy
to see so many schools across the country participating in this
program."
KIWI's National Take Your Parents to Lunch Day takes place each year
during School Lunch Week in October. At the event, parents visit their
child's school and have lunch with them in the cafeteria. The program
helps educate parents about what goes into creating a nutritious lunch
for a child, and the event showcases how schools are working to make
lunchtime a healthy endeavor.
