Keith McCord reporting A Taylorsville family is spending its first night in a new home. There were tears aplenty on the faces of Kevin and Mandelina Groves when they and their children saw their home, built from the ground up in just nine days!
We've told you about the Groves family of Taylorsville that had to move out of their home because of health problems caused by mold. Well, this afternoon they got to see their new home for the first time. It was built in nine days on the same lot.
"It's beautiful. It is so beautiful. It's amazing, the landscaping, the home; more than I could ever have imagined that we would have had. It's beautiful," homeowner Mandalina Groves said when she arrived.
The family spent nine days in St. George while their new home was being built. They promised not to watch any television during that time because they wanted to be surprised when they finally got to see the new home. "Kevin and I both felt like it was the only thing we could give back. They asked us not to look, we didn't look. It was very tempting, but we didn't look," Mandalina said.
There were nearly 300 people on hand to welcome the family home when they arrived home just around 5:00 this afternoon. Everybody was in tears.
The Heart 2 Home Foundation , with donated materials and hundreds of volunteers, built a brand new, 3,300 square foot home, about twice the size of the old house.
Mandalina Groves said, "This is amazing. Nine days ago there was a little house here; it wasn't even close to this. I can't believe what everybody's done."
This is the eighth house that Heart 2 Home has built in the last three years. Its next project will be this fall in Provo.
