Mary Richards reportingThe Utah Transit Authority is developing a smarter way for you to pay your fare; smarter because it automatically figures out how to save you money.
As you hop on TRAX, you will soon be able to use a new UTA card to pay the fare. The contact-less cards are like those new debit and credit cards you just pass near a card reader. It soon may be available like a UTA Visa or MasterCard, and as a prepaid card at a kiosk.
The technology could save you money. For example, if you buy enough single fares, the system will bump you to the monthly fare and give you the discount.
