CINCINNATI--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Apr 7, 2014--Metamucil is proud to announce the winner of the “Do More Than You Think” contest, Rebecca N. of Pennsylvania. Rebecca’s winning essay about the LAM Foundation was chosen out of nearly 1,500 written entries on deserving health and wellness organizations. As the grand prize winner, Rebecca’s charity will receive a $100,000 donation in her name to continue to do more for people living with LAM, a rare lung disease, and Rebecca and a guest will receive a trip to New York City to attend a taping of “The Dr. Oz Show.”
The “Do More Than You Think” contest launched on October 1, 2013 and ended on March 14, 2014. From October 4 through December 16, contestants were asked to write a brief essay explaining why their favorite health and wellness charity should receive the $100,000 donation. After the nominees were narrowed down to eight finalists by a panel of judges selected by P&G (NYSE: PG), voting was opened to the public on February 14, 2014 and ran through March 14, 2014. More than 22,000 votes were cast.
“We are so honored to have been selected as the recipient of the donation amongst the many other deserving charities,” said Sue Sherman, Executive Director of The LAM Foundation. “The overwhelming support of our community during the voting period is a testament to how dedicated we all are to finding a cure for LAM. We are grateful to Rebecca for nominating us and thankful to Metamucil for sponsoring the contest and recognizing how much more health and wellness organizations can do with financial support.”
Throughout the contest, Metamucil partnered with long-time Metamucil user, iconic television, stage and screen actor, Tony Danza. Tony believes in “doing good to feel good” and will be participating in an in-person check presentation to congratulate Rebecca and The LAM Foundation.
