Mary Richards reporting Authorities send a new warning about safety in our homes after a marble pillar falls on a Salt Lake man. Deputies say the freak accident contributed to the man's death.
Lt. Paul Jaroscak, spokesman for the Salt Lake County Sheriff's Office, tried to describe the statue or sculpture that fell onto 57-year-old Robert Brain. "This marble pillar, or column, that's about 4 and a half foot tall was either knocked over or fell over," he said.
An autopsy showed Brain was already in declining health, and that may have contributed to his death.
Jaroscak says this freak accident shows how everyone can make their homes safer. "Occasionally we have things in our homes that, while we don't think they're dangerous, they're beautiful but in the wrong situation they can be dangerous," he said.
A dog walker found Brain dead inside his home Thursday afternoon.
