CALEDONIA, Mich. (AP) — Officials in a western Michigan school district are investigating a report that a substitute teacher made inappropriate racial and religious remarks to students.
Superintendent Randy Rodriguez tells The Grand Rapids Press (http://bit.ly/1lyiwMd ) that officials received a complaint Tuesday that the teacher made "inappropriate remarks regarding religion and race" at Kraft Meadows Middle School in Caledonia.
Details of the remarks weren't immediately released. Rodriguez says an investigation began and will continue on Wednesday.
Rodriguez says the teacher has worked in the Caledonia Community Schools district four or five days over the course of a year and will not work there during the investigation. The school in Caledonia, located about 15 miles southeast of Grand Rapids, has about 500 students.
