Most people have heard the buzz and seen the ads, but what's really behind all the Daybreak hype?

Well, running trails, community gardens and even fresh-baked pastries, are just a few reasons why Daybreak was recently named Community of the Year by the Utah Association of Home Builders. As Daybreak now celebrates its 10th anniversary, maybe it's time to take a look at what makes Daybreak an idyllic community that continues to draw Utah families.

Designs are distinctive

Homes are built to last (and save money)

Sure, Daybreak homes look great. But they also happen to be built great, too. With advanced framing, insulation and furnace systems, Daybreak homes make for a smarter, cozier lifestyle. Homeowners can save as much as $3,000 each year on energy bills with a Daybreak home and conserve an average of 5,000 gallons of water per month. A home's high-performance ducting can even help with your allergies by supplying cleaner, fresher air.

Daybreak is a lifestyle

Beautiful, well-built homes aren't all there is to Daybreak. Daybreak is a tight-knit community that features an entire calendar-year of events and activities. From neighborhood festivals to extra-curricular classes and organizations, a family will be part of a community that lives - enjoyably - together.

The outdoors is your neighborhood

Homeowners may be in love with their home, but at Daybreak life is expected to be lived outside, too. That's why the community is designed on "The Five Minute Rule," where each home is within a five-minute walk from something exciting - at least one park, maybe a restaurant, a pool, a highly rated school or even a light rail transit station. That means a play-date party is just a short walk away and that afternoon pick-me-up pastry is right around the corner. And Daybreak's newest village, Creekside, is home to a park that includes a wading creek, rock-climbing area, zip line and soon, a swimming pool.

All kinds of homes, all kinds of people

Regardless of a person's stage of life, there's a home for him or her in Daybreak. Not only is Daybreak family-friendly with parks, biking trails, playgrounds, swimming pools, restaurants and shops, it also includes Garden Park, a quiet low-maintenance village for people 55+.

Can't beat the location

Daybreak is convenient - regardless of where a person works in the valley. Thanks to the TRAX light rail system and new road projects, Daybreak is one of the Salt Lake Valley's most accessible communities. The TRAX Mid-Jordan Light Rail line provides two Daybreak stops, while the Mountain View Corridor, currently in construction, will offer a fast way to get from Daybreak to I-80.
