Tom Callan reporting A message for northern Utah from the state: Keep your hands off those antlers.
As we slip from late winter into spring, members of the wildlife family--the deer, elk, and moose--are dropping their antlers. They are tired and exhausted.
"That stresses the animal and causes them to use energy that they really don't have a whole lot of by now," explained Mark Hadley, with the Utah Division of Wildlife Resources.
Hadley says members of the family need some rest and relaxation from you and me. "The habitat's very fragile this time of year," he said.
He says leave the antlers alone and give the animals some peace of mind--at least until April 12 in areas north and east of Salt Lake.
