SALT LAKE CITY — The trademark red suit, belly-jiggling laugh, the white hair and beard: It's easy for people to get confused by imitation Santas.

"Mostly, Santa is in your heart," Santa said.

Santa took time from his busy schedule to confirm some concepts. He said he receives countless bundles of mail from little kids and reads them all. And just in case there was any question, Santa's sleigh can carry and deliver Christmas gifts to kids all over the world.

"Don't you worry, all the presents will get there," Santa said.

Most people believe that Santa lives in the North Pole. Santa said there's a lake there too — kind of like Santa's vacation spot.

"It's kind of like a giant hot tub. And sometimes at night I'll go out there and I'll hear all this noise," Santa said. "And there'll be the reindeer swimming in the lake with the elves riding on their back."

Speaking of elves, Santa's workshop is one of the North Pole's largest employers. It keeps elves busy all year long getting ready for Christmas.

"They kind of come and go. They live in the forest and when they want work they come in and work," said Santa. "Most of them are very delightful."

Santa has a message for everyone and that is to believe that Christmas truly is a magical time of year.

"If you believe then you'll find the world is a special place," said Santa. "For the greatest gift of Christmas dear truly is love."

With a jolly laugh, Santa dashed off to continue prepping for Christmas night.
