LAS VEGAS (AP) - A poker player who left a bag with $300,000 in the back seat of a Las Vegas taxi has given $10,000 to the honest cabbie who returned the money.

Yellow Checker Star Cab Company CEO Bill Shranko said Friday the gambler made good on his promise to reward driver Gerardo Gamboa.

The cab company named Gamboa employee of the year, awarded him another $1,000 and gave him a gift certificate to a Las Vegas steakhouse.

The Las Vegas Review-Journal reported that Gamboa was making a pickup Monday at the Bellagio when a hotel doorman noticed the brown paper bag.

Gamboa found bundles of $100 bills inside.

The driver turned the money in to the cab company, and police linked it to the gambler, who they have not publically identified.
