SYRACUSE — Police arrested two people and cleared a third in connection with a burglary at a Syracuse home.
Police responded to the area of 1300 South and Banbury Drive on a call of an aggravated burglary in progress on the afternoon of Nov. 5. The home's resident said an intruder had threatened him, according to police.
Officers arrived and arrested 28-year-old John Collins. Collins entered the home to collect a debt from the homeowner, according to Lt. Heath Rogers of the Syracuse Police Department. A short time later, officers located and arrested 28-year-old Cheryl Newbold.
Both individuals were booked into the Davis County Jail — Collins for investigation of assault, aggravated burglary, criminal mischief, and possession or use of a weapon by a restricted person. Newbold was booked for investigation of assault, aggravated burglary, and criminal mischief.
Police originally named a third suspect, James Woods, and asked for the public's help in locating him. Lt. Rogers said Thursday that investigators determined Woods had no involvement in the incident.
