SALT LAKE CITY (AP) -- A parcel in an eastern Utah canyon known for its ancient art panels will go up for bid this week for oil and gas drilling.
In all, the Bureau of Land Management will auction 75,000 acres of public land across Utah tomorrow.
Conservation groups have filed protests over the Nine Mile Canyon lease and other parcels they say overlap wilderness-quality lands.
The BLM typically waits until the last minute before deciding whether to withhold any parcels nominated by the industry.
