SALT LAKE CITY — If you love food, and love food with bacon even more, then get your tastebuds to Baconfest.

Friday, Granary Row is hosting their first-ever Baconfest. To celebrate, food trucks and carts at the weekend event will each prepare a "bacon-centric" special.

Cherry's Hot Cocoa proprietors Ryan Lufkin and Marissa Nichols pitched the festival after talking about Lufkin's love for bacon.

"I'm obsessed with bacon and kind of have been for a long time," Lufkin said.

Other cities have held a Baconfest, and he thought they could bring the idea to Granary Row.

"It's a one-day celebration of bacon," he said.

That put the wheels into motion. Fellow foodies from the Bento Truck, Sweeto Burrito, Blue Poblano, Submarino's and Mom's Greek joined the festival.

Sweeto Burrito is expected to combine the deliciousness of a burrito with bacon, and Cherry's Hot Cocoa will offer maple bacon marshmallows and an unexpected flavor of frozen hot chocolate: bacon caramel.
