SALT LAKE CITY — Family vacation, check. Swimming lessons, check. Back-to-school shopping, check. For most families, school, and the routines that go with it, begin in August. After weeks of scorching temperatures, Utahns begin to look forward to cooler temperatures in the months ahead.

Crystal Hot Springs in Honeyville is the granddaddy of Utah water parks. Utahns have been swimming and soaking in its mineral waters since 1901. Try them for yourself for only $2 per person for the whole day before the summer ends. Crystal Hot Springs also has its own campground, if your family has a little vacation time left and wants to make it an overnighter.

5. The Leonardo - 50% off tickets to 101 Inventions and admission to The Leonardo, $7.50 per person
101 Inventions that Changed the World is a multi-sensory production that is making its U.S. debut at The Leonardo in downtown Salt Lake City. View larger than life images, use interactive kiosks and build your own creation in the LEGO lab. Then move on to The Leonardo's regular exhibits where kids and adults can make their own animated short film, build something in the Tinkering Garage or work alongside the artist-in-residence in the Art Lab.
