SOUTH SALT LAKE — Police are trying to piece together what happened to a man who was found lying bloody in a South Salt Lake street Sunday afternoon.

Police were called to 80 W. Truman Avenue after they received reports of a shooting at about 12:45 p.m., according to Lt. Ron Vance with the South Salt Lake Police department.

When they arrived, police found a man in the middle of the road, injured and bleeding, according to Lance. However, the man had not been shot.

The man was conscious and breathing, but was unable to provide police with his identity or any information on what happened to him, Lance said.

He was taken to a local hospital under sedation and police have not been able to talk with him further. Lance said there were no witnesses and no explanations as to what happened.

The incident is still under investigation.

More information will be posted when it becomes available.
