CEDAR CITY, Utah (AP) -- An Iron County search and rescue team volunteer has died after an exhausting day in the backcountry looking for a missing Kearns couple.

The 37-year-old, whose name was not released, died Sunday. Iron County Sheriff Mark Gower says the man struggled to get his snowmobile out of deep mountain snow during a search Saturday and the fatigue may have contributed to his death.

An autopsy is planned to determine a cause of death.

The sheriff's office and search teams from Beaver, Washington and Nevada's Lincoln counties have been looking for Thomas and Tamitha Garner since the couple disappeared Jan. 26.

Authorities fear the Garners were traveling on a southern Utah back road and were caught unprepared in a blizzard.
