Lori Prichard reporting That cane seems to have become part of how many remember President Hinckley. Today, many lined the streets to wave goodbye to the president with canes of their own.
Many of those who lined the streets were with small children, so for them this was their way to pay their respects, but also to celebrate. We heard that so many times.
Many of them want to celebrate President Hinckley's wit and charm. More than 150 people lined the city blocks to wave their canes and handkerchiefs. The organizer of this very special tribute says she wanted to emphasize President Hinckley's character. She says he was someone who was serious when he needed to be but a whole lot of fun when it was called for.

"He was all about fun, and he had his serious times, but he was all about being fun. And this is fun in a serious moment," organizer Kristen Smith said.
One of President Hinckley's family members rolled down the limousine window as they passed by the crowds and mouthed the words, "Thank you."
"It brought tears to my eyes to know the family so appreciated a fitting tribute to this man," Smith said.
