ATLANTA — If you turned to the Weather Channel Thursday, you saw that the star of the network was not a new storm or a dangerous weather system but a 4-foot-tall little girl, far from home, and living her dream on live television.

The Weather Channel revolved around Sophia, an 8-year-old cancer patient on Thursday. She took over the entire building: every employee wore her name, every screen was filled with her. Sophia has her own studio, green room, elevator and even some personalized swag.

She traveled all the way from Seattle for her magic day, which was made possible by the Make a Wish Foundation. Sophia is battling rhabdomyosarcoma, a tumor discovered behind her eye. Although Sophia has endured grueling, punishing treatment, she has not lost her passion, which is weather.

Sophia's parents say she listened to a weather radio before she got dressed forschool every day and that she was absolutely crazed with weather. So her wish to the Make A Wish Foundation was to be a Weather Channel anchor. And it came true.

The Weather Channel transformed for Sophia — and in return — she transformed and charmed everyone at the Weather Channel and across America.

There is no sign of the tumor. The girl says she is stronger because of the past year, and says she will grow up and become a meteorologist.
