ROY — Police are continuing their investigation into the death of a 25-year-old pedestrian who was killed about 1:35 a.m. Saturday when he was hit by freight train.
The man, identified by Roy police as Thatcher Overton, of Roy, was killed instantly when a southbound Union Pacific train hit him near 6000 South and 2400 West, said Roy Police Sgt. Shane Hubbard.
Overton was apparently standing between two sets of tracks as the train was approaching. He apparently did not hear the train's whistle because he was using ear buds and stepped into its path, Hubbard said.
"There isn't any indication he was having any problems. It's just sort of a bizarre case," Hubbard said.
