Becky Bruce reporting Area hotels, shops and restaurants are bracing for the influx of the Outdoor Retailer Winter Market. It kicks off tomorrow at the Salt Palace Convention Center.

There's no doubt about it: downtown businesses are downright excited about this convention, and the dollars coming with it.

"We're going to probably see about 17,000 attendees for the convention, and the economic impact will be close to $15 million," explained Carla Wiese, economic development director for the Downtown Alliance.

Wiese says this is the smaller of the two outdoor retailer shows each year. "They come to Utah, not just because we host a great convention, but because the things that they focus on, and the things that make their industry successful, are here," she said.

That helps sell the Salt Lake Valley to the world.
