(KSL News) The Utah Symphony and Utah Opera have a new woman at the helm. Melia Tourangeau, formerly CEO of the Grand Rapids Symphony, will take over the position held by Anne Ewers.

Tourangeau says she hopes to keep the symphony and opera healthy arts organizations, both in quality of production and financially.

"When I heard the orchestra in Abravanel Hall, I couldn't believe it. The quality of this facility is just incredible, honestly, so the product was very much the first thing that attracted me," she said.

Tourangeau says she has enjoyed meeting musicians, staff, donors, members of the board and those in the audience. She will officially become CEO in late April.

The Utah Symphony and Opera is also looking for a replacement for the symphony's music director, Keith Lockhart, who will leave the company at the end of next season.
