OGDEN, Utah (AP) -- Gilled creatures could get cozy with visitors at the Weber County Fair.
County commissioners approved a $6,500 contract to bring a stingray petting exhibit to the fair in August.
The exotic attraction is part of a plan to bring new activities to the fair. Visitors can pet a stingray and a horseshoe crab.
Stingrays got much attention when Steve Irwin, the "Crocodile Hunter," was killed by one in Australia in 2006.
Weber County Fair director Jan Wilson says the barbs will be removed, making the stingray safe for the public.
