With the so-called Mormon Moment came an increased curiosity into what members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints believe.

And, that's one of the reasons Latter-day Saint scholars from Virginia sought to take the conversation about the Mormon faith back to its core.

Terryl and Fiona Givens are the authors of "The God Who Weeps".

They wrote the book after noticing several people, particularly young LDS intellectuals, leave the faith after questioning aspects of Church history.

"And that's really what was the impetus behind our book," Fiona Givens said. "If history cannot save, our theology can."

In 'The God Who Weeps', the Givens explore how Mormonism makes sense of life. They address many of the questions people have about the nature of God and his relationship to us, His children.

"I think in the back of our minds was the feeling that if people do leave the Church, we would just like to make sure they know what it is they're really leaving," Terryl Givens said.

The book also connects Mormon theology with some of the greatest thinkers in history.
