LOGAN — For some reason, it's always funny to catch your friends dozing off; and in today's digital world, it's easy to snap a photo and share the moment with others.

Now, two Utah State University students have come up with a creative way to spread the humor around in a place notorious for nonchalant nappers: a college campus.

Roommates Nicole Muirbrook and Jordyn Pope are the masterminds behind the "Napping Aggies" social media accounts. Their idea was to collect photos of fellow USU students catching a little shuteye in odd places, and then share the humor with the rest of the student body via Instagram and Twitter.

Until now, Muirbrook and Pope had stayed mostly anonymous.

"We didn't really want people to know (who we were) because we didn't want to be pegged as … ‘the creepy girls taking pictures of people on campus,'" Pope said.

Like most college campuses, it's not hard to find sleeping students — in pairs, even in threes — at USU. In October, 2012, Muirbrook and Pope began sharing their photos of these sleepy students on the Napping Aggies Instagram account.

"Then it sort of took off," Muirbrook said, "and now we're over 1,200 likes and followers on Instagram."

They also started a Twitter account by the same name, and it has 500 followers.

"We see people Facebook or tweet about it: ‘I got featured on Napping Aggies!' It's almost an honor to get featured sleeping on Instagram," Muirbrook said.

She and Pope said they used to re-post just about any picture that was sent to them. Now they get so many photos, they've had to limit their shares to "really good nappers" — those with the most creative sleeping position and/or sleeping location.

"I am afraid to sleep in class now just because of that fact," USU student Chris Glaitti said jokingly. "I am terrified to sleep."

Still, Muirbrook and Pope are proud of their newfound Internet fame, even if it involves catching people in some of their worst moments.
