Suzanne Viehweg ReportingSunday marks a significant milestone for the Mormon Tabernacle Choir. It will be the four thousandth broadcast for the weekly program, "Music and the Spoken Word."
The world renowned choir has been singing for 77 years and is still going strong. Music Director Craig Jessop says this Sunday's event will include some special guests.
"Jerrold Otley, the former director the choir, Charles Osgood of CBS radio and television will make an appearance, President Gordon B. Hinckley."
Jessop says a recorded message from President Bush will also be played. He emphasizes this milestone will not stop the choir from progressing. LDS Church President Gordon B. Hinckley has given him his marching orders.
"It must be the highest exponent of the choral art in the land, but it must always sing to the people."
"The Music and the Spoken Word" begins at 9:30 this Sunday morning, which you can hear on KSL Newsradio. The special program starts at 10:00. "The Music and the Spoken Word" originated on KSL Newsradio.
