John Hollenhorst ReportingAnother man pleaded guilty today in the chain of events that ultimately led to February's tragic shooting at Trolley Square.
This is now the third guilty plea in the case, but we should quickly add that none of those facing the music in court knew they were playing a role in a developing tragedy.
It was the evening of Feb. 12 when 17-year-old Sulejman Talovic walked into Trolley Square and started shooting. Five people died. Four others were injured before police killed Talovic himself.
Today, Matthew Hautala went to federal court and admitted playing a role in the transfer of a pistol Talovic used in one of the deaths.
Hautala pleaded guilty to aiding and abetting the transfer of a gun to a juvenile.
Two others more directly involved in the pistol transfer have also plead guilty. A fourth man still faces charges for providing Talovic with the shotgun that claimed four lives.
If he enters a plea, it would close the books on that grim night, at least from a law enforcement point of view.
