Marc Giauque, KSL Newsradio It's nothing compared to losing a home in a fire, but the disaster in Southern California is impacting a lot of Utahns' travel plans.
The annual Utah Education Association (UEA) convention is a cue for a lot of Utahns to head to places like Sea World or LegoLand. Both have been closed because of the fires, but Gary Commagere of Countryside Travel says, that aside, a lot of people just don't want to go there right now. "You've got all the commotion with people that are displaced due to the fires. You've got the confusion of rental cars, people are checking into hotels just trying to get away from the fires," Commagere said.
At the same time, he says it may be tough to change your plans at work and with airlines and hotels. He says some airlines are offering a one-time schedule change, but only under certain conditions.
Theme parks around Los Angeles are still open, and there's hope other attractions around San Diego can reopen by the weekend.
