(KSL News) Utah's top teacher was name today in 12th annual Wal-Mart and Sam's Club State Teacher of the Year program.

Susan Schumacher, a family and consumer science teacher at Pleasant Grove High School received the award in a surprise ceremony at her school. The award is given to one Utah teacher every year who goes the extra mile to help students grow to love learning.

Utah's Top Teacher Named

Schumacher received a $10,000 education grant for Pleasant Grove High School, plus several other tokens of appreciation: a crystal apple trophy and a Teacher of the Year certificate.
