SALT LAKE CITY (AP) - A Utah man accused of smuggling a knife onto an airplane and threatening to kill police is scheduled for a change of plea hearing.

David Alan Anderson had pleaded not guilty to possessing a dangerous weapon on an aircraft and retaliation against a federal officer by threat of murder.

The charges carry a penalty of up to 20 years in federal prison.

Court records show the 60-year-old is scheduled to change his plea during a hearing in U.S. District Court in Salt Lake City on Thursday.

Authorities say Anderson was arrested Sept. 18 after being removed from a Las Vegas-bound Delta Airlines flight in Salt Lake City. They say he threatened to kill his seatmate during a dispute over a shared armrest, and had a knife in his bag.
