(KSL News) If the Easter Bunny ever found himself caught in Utah's snow, he'd be safe. Teams trained today at Solitude's annual "Beacon and Eggs" competition.
They looked for Easter eggs and prizes hidden in the snow using avalanche beacons. Winners of today's competition will compete in a more difficult race next weekend.
The most important thing, however, is that participants are learning how to use the transceivers.
Logan Cookler/ Ski Patrol: "Time is life as we say, and you have usually fifteen minutes or less to find that person, and there's really no way to find someone without an avalanche beacon."
The beacon park is always open, and available to all skill levels--from those soaring down high peaks, or for those just starting to explore Utah's back country.
