LOGAN, Utah (AP) -- Utah State University is getting a share of more than $14 million in federal food safety grants.

Utah State is one of 17 schools throughout the country that are getting the Department of Agriculture grants.

Acting Agriculture Secretary Chuck Conner says that the money is for research projects on food safety. They include research on farm production, post-harvest processing, shipping, storage and preparation.

Utah State's share of the grants are $596,396.
