PHILADELPHIA -- In yet another sign of the times, The Philadelphia Wings of the National Lacrosse League Wings will put players' twitter handles on their jerseys.

Okay, so it is only for one game, but the team and the league are trying to "increase engagement and awareness for use of the social media tool."

If the players don't already have a Twitter account, they'll be required to create one before their game against the Buffalo Bandits on February 12.

The @PhillyWings front office will also be holding a formal Twitter training session to help players understand how Twitter works and what kind of things to tweet.

Following the game, the one-of-a-kind, game-worn jerseys will be auctioned off to fans, with proceeds benefitting The American Cancer Society.

Not surprisingly, The Wings will be the first American professional sports team to use Twitter handles in place of last names on their jerseys.

Not to be forgotten, the ill-fated XFL allowed nicknames, like "He Hate Me" in place of players' last names.
