SANDY — Police were looking Thursday for two men who allegedly robbed a man selling them a gun, and then beat the man and tossed him from a moving vehicle.
About 11:30 p.m., a man went to the Harmons parking lot, near 7800 South and 700 East, where he was to meet two other men to sell them a small-caliber handgun. The buyers and the seller were connected through an online ad, said Sandy Police Sgt. John Arnold.
The gun seller got into the front passenger seat of the buyers' vehicle. The man handed the gun to the driver for him to look at, Arnold said. When he did that, a man sitting in the rear seat began punching the gun seller in the back of the head, Arnold said.
The driver then began to drive away. About 100 to 200 yards later, the gun seller told police he was kicked out of the moving vehicle, suffering minor scrapes and bruises.
The only descriptions detectives had Thursday were two male Polynesians last seen driving a red, four-door Pontiac sedan. Arnold said investigators were reviewing surveillance video from the store.
